The doubleheader at Bikernieki National Sports Base became a mind game about tyre strategy. Kristoffersson gambled in the qualification on Saturday, battling his way through on mostly used tyres. Despite this he finished second in the qualification and picked up fifteen points.

In the semifinal he had fresh tyres and showed his great pace, winning in style.

- That was the reward for the fight in Q2 and Q3, says Johan. In the final he took his Volkswagen Polo R Supercar to a convincing victory, his third win of the season.

Also in Sunday's qualification Kristoffersson had to battle hard and ended up second behind Mattias Ekström. The semifinal from pole position turned out to be a fairly easy win and for the final he lined up alongside Ekström who was in pole position, new tyres on both cars.

- I had a good launch, but so had Mattias. Then there was not much more to do. Johan finished second, and was quite satisfied. - I picked up as many points as I could, without winning, so I can't be disappointed.

29 points from Saturday and 26 from Sunday for a total of 55 from the weekend, the same as Ekström. 166-149 in the championship standings. - I have only lost 14 points from six races, says Johan.

The duel continues in Spain in four week’s time, with another doubleheader.
