Finally it all worked for Andreas Mikkelsen and co-driver Anders Jaeger-Amland, who secured a strong podium finish at Rally Argentina today. – I’m so happy for this second position, Andreas explains, it almost feels like a victory!

Together with team-mate Thierry Neuville, Andreas completed at double podium for Hyundai Motorsport today. It was victory for Thierry, while Andreas claimed his best result so far in the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC with second position. Andreas and Anders climbed to second on Saturday afternoon and kept that place all the way through the finish line.

“It’s just an amazing feeling that this result finally arrived with us, it feels like 200kgs have been lifted off my shoulders! We have worked so hard, and to finally have that good result is just an awesome feeling. It means a lot for my confidence and I do hope we are now in the zone and can deliver more good results for the upcoming rallies. The feeling with the car has been fantastic throughout the weekend, it really feels we are “one” and when you have that feeling – it’s pretty easy to drive”

Coming in to the South-American event, Andreas planned to take advantage of being the last of the WRC-cars in the running order. However, 48 hours of non-stop rain made the conditions very slippery and muddy. And also very different from the recce earlier in the week. Despite the challenging position, they set off with a good pace and even bagged a fastest stage time on the opening day and finished 5th.

“Friday was a good day, apart from one puncture. In the afternoon our starting-position made it very difficult, I pushed all we could – but still we were not on the pace. But compared to those in the same starting field, we were fast, and that was a good thing.”

Saturday came with sunshine and very fast stages over the Argentinian pampas. Flat-out sections over more than 200 meters. The Norwegian duo secured two stage wins and finished the day holding second.

«Saturday was an incredible day! We did drop some time in the morning, but back at service we worked hard and examined what we would do to get more pace. And I think we found the solution for that. Everything worked very well in the afternoon, and I was driving the stages smiling from ear to ear. It was a perfect car!”

Rally Argentina ended with 3 legendary stages on the Sunday, the famous El Condor and the Mina Clavero. More than 75.000 lined the stages and created a fantastic atmosphere for the final day.

“What an experience to drive these stages! Today, when you feel one with car, and with all the fans and this amazing landscape, wow – it is just awesome! I do hope I can take this good feeling with me to Chile and continue with another good result!”
