Rally Mexico ended up being very challenging for Andreas Mikkelsen, but in the end he is happy to walk away with 4th in the overall classification.

– To be honest I was hoping for something better than P4. But after not being on the pace all weekend, I have to be happy with it. It’s important points for the championship standings. We have been struggling a lot to find the confidence with the car on this rally. I never got to grips with how the rear of the car would react and then it is difficult to really push. I think both my team-mates in Hyundai had the same feeling.

The Norwegians had a good start position for this event and planned to make the most of that on the opening day. Instead they were struggling to find grip, especially on the morning loop, and finished the day only 6th in the overall classification. For the afternoon loop on Saturday they managed to get closer on the set up and ended the day with a stage win.

– We managed to get through the weekend without any problems, even though it was a bit more challenging than we imagined. And I’m happy that I have managed to win stages on all the events I have done with Hyundai Motorsport.

Andreas and Anders finished 4th overall, and with fifth place on the Power Stage they secured 1 extra bonus point.
