In an extremely exciting battle for second place, Andreas Mikkelsen did one of his best rallies and kept the world champion behind in the fight for second place.

– I am very happy with the driving, says Andreas, – this is one of my best rallies ever.

4 stages were on the schedule for the final day, and Andreas and Anders were holding 3rd in the standings going in to the day. Quickest on the first stage, faster than the world champion by 8,8 seconds, they climbed to second position. And remained there for the rest of the rally. Ogier won the Power Stage, but in the end Andreas ended 4,8 seconds ahead of him in the classification.

– This feels fantastic! I knew we had to push to the maximum from the start to be able to catch up with Ogier, and we managed to do that! We have not made a single mistake during the day, and we managed to keep the pace without risking anything. It’s a good feeling being able to be faster than the world champion on equal terms. Big thanks to my engineer Richard who managed to find the perfect set up, and to all the mechanics who did a fantastic job keeping the car perfect.

In the end Kris Meeke managed to take full advantage of his starting position and won the event. Sebastien Ogier took 3rd place.
