Andreas Mikkelsen will compete in the last 3 events of the 2017 season with Hyundai Motorsport in a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.
– I’m very excited about this and I can’t wait to start! Hyundai Motorsport are still in the battle for the manufacturer championship and it would be fantastic if I could contribute in Spain, Wales and Australia to that result, Andreas says.
Together with co-driver Anders Jæger he tested the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC back in April and he felt good in the car, and describes it as a winning-car.
– I immediately felt at home in the car, and that I can win with it. At the same time, you cannot just jump in to a new car and be fast. We are planning a few test-days ahead of Rally Spain, which I hope will enable me to be up there fighting in the top. Wales will be a bit more challenging due to road-position. But both Wales and Australia are events we have won, so we are of course aiming for a good result there as well. I hope this new partnership is only the beginning of something long term, and that our discussions about the future will continue.
The first event with Hyundai Motorsport will be Rally Spain, which gets underway 6-8 October.
