– I am very happy to be back in the WRC, and can’t wait to be a part of Hyundai Motorsport, says Andreas.

After claiming third in the World Rally Championship for three years in a row, Andreas had a plan to climb even higher this year. After Volkswagen’s sudden exit last year, he found himself without a seat and the plan had to change. Andreas is now very pleased to have signed a two-year deal with Hyundai Motorsport.

– This deal means a lot! I’m finally back, knowing that I’m now able to fight for the championship-title. You have to be in a manufacturer team to do that, and I believe Hyundai Motorsport have the best car and the best team. I had a plan to become world-champion this year, and it feels great to finally be back on track to continue the plan. I’m really looking forward to 2018, and to finally be able to compete a full season again. I know I’m able to fight for the championship and both Anders and I can’t wait to start our new adventure with Hyundai Motorsport.

Without a team and a car, the 2017 season have been all about trying to get as much kilometers in a rally-car as possible, and to keep up with the championship – all to be prepared for the next season.

– 2017 have been a very challenging year, and I’m very happy I got the opportunity to do a few events with an R5 car and also in a WRC car. Our P2 from Germany is our absolute highlight, and who knows, maybe that result helped securing the deal with Hyundai Motorsport. I’m very happy that I also got to do the final 3 events with them this season.

– Knowing that you are driving a car which has already proved to be a “winning-car” is a major confidence-boost. I felt at home immediately when testing, and I know I can get a good result. At the same time, we have to remember that the car is new to me, and I know you can’t just jump in and expect to be the fastest.

– We know that Andreas belongs up there with the top runners and it’s been a little surreal that he had to be on the outside for 2017. We are very pleased and extremely happy that he is now back full time with a manufacturer team and I’m sure he now will be able to fulfill his dream to become a world-champion, says manager Erik Veiby
