Dennis Olsen (18) took his second victory in Eurocup Formula Renault at Nürburgring. With a second place overall, he is now chasing an historical championship title.

Dennis Olsen from Våler in Norway took his second victory in Eurocup Formula Renault by winning at Nürburgring at the weekend. There were two finals and Dennis picked up valuable points with a fourth place and an amazing win. Dennis led from start to finish and triumphed just 5 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc from Monaco.

This championship is one of the main recruitment classes in Formula 1 and the participants are followed closely by these teams. That is why the world’s most talented young motorsport drivers compete in this championship.

The weekend started with a fairly poor qualifying session, where Dennis had to start the first final of the weekend in 12th place on the grid. Under difficult conditions with a wet and slippery track, Dennis managed to climb to a valuable 4th place. In so doing, he managed a 2nd place overall in the championship for Østfold and Norway.

In Sunday’s qualifying session for the second race of the weekend, Dennis secured a clear pole position and led from the front at the start of the final. He managed to hold on to this position the whole race and crossed the finishing line 5 seconds ahead of number of two, with championship leader Nyck de Vries ending up in 4th place. With this victory, Dennis is hot on the tail of the championship leader and there is great excitement ahead of the remaining races in the season.

“It’s amazing fun to succeed, and this would not have be possible without all the preparations, hard work and solidarity of the team and sponsors,” Dennis Olsen said on the phone from Germany. “So far this season we have had a few misses in the qualifiers and we have focused a lot on this. I have now proved that I have the right speed and can thereby achieve top results. Honing perfection in all areas is what it takes to decide the end result and as things stand now, winning this championship is no longer out of reach.

There are 6 finals remaining in the season, and the next race will be 12 – 14 September at the Grand Prix track in Hungaroring in Hungary.
