Ole Christian Veiby was hoping for a place on the podium in the final round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship, but finished in fourth place and in fifth place overall in the Championship.

The final round at Solvalla outside Stockholm did not quite go as the Volkswagen Dealer Team KMS had hoped. The dream was for Ole Christian’s teammate, Johan Kristoffersson, to win the gold and for the Norwegian to take the bronze, but unfortunately, Johan suffered technical problems with his car and did not reach the final. Kristoffersson ended up in third place overall in the Swedish Championship, while Ole’s fourth place in the race put him in fifth place overall. However, the 18-year-old talent from Kongsvinger has every reason to be satisfied with his debut season as a rallycross driver. He has battled evenly with some of the world’s top drivers and has a second place and a third place as his best achievements in individual races.

“I can’t be disappointed with fourth place at Solvalla. There were many tough duels with some of the best drivers in the world. In the semi-final, I took second place, which gave me a fourth place on the starting grid in the final. Obviously, I was determined to fight for a place on the podium, but in the end I had to settle for fourth place. From the second row of the grid, I didn’t get a perfect start and when none of the drivers ahead of me made any mistakes, it was difficult to advance in the field. A bit annoying, but on its own a good result in such experienced company,” he says.

Team Manager Tommy Kristoffersson gave the young Norwegian rallycross talent a pat on the shoulder.

“Ole Christian end up in fourth place and was not far behind Robin Larsson, who earlier this season was number two in the World Championship round at Lydden Hill in England. It’s a pity that we didn’t have both our cars competing all the way to the end at Solvalla, but once again we showed our capacity. This season has given us many positive answers as regards the development of our new VW Polo,” Kristoffersson says.
