Johan Kristoffersson’s 2016 is heating up. In addition to his full World RX season with Volkwagen RX Sweden, he makes a comeback in the STCC – to get as much time behind the wheel as possible in order to develop as a driver and come even closer to the world champion title.

To have a thought through event schedule and to get as much driving as possible are the keys in Norwegian EVEN Management’s plan that allows Johan to develop as a driver. Last year he finished third in the World RX and he also became Porsche Carrera Cup champion. To give him the best opportunities to succeed in this year’s World RX, he got the chance to practice behind the wheel of a Skoda Fabia in, among other events, Rally Sweden during the winter season. Now another discipline has been added to Johan’s schedule for 2016 – STCC, a championship he took the title in back in 2012.

“Constant progression, hard and dedicated work is what hopefully makes it possible for us to challenge for the world champion title in rallycross. For me, racing is an important part of this and I have great use of it in rallycross to understand how to get the best out of a car and the right way to communicate to my engineer what is needed to go faster. That’s why I’m very grateful that EVEN Management, Volkswagen, Bauhaus and all the people around me support my ambition to become an even better driver and give me the chance to do this” says Johan.

On Wednesday, Johan did his first and only test ahead of the STCC at the Gelleråsen track in Karlskoga in Sweden. When he last competed in the championship, he drove a Volkswagen Scirocco, but this time he will master a Seat for PWR Racing Team.

“It feels very exciting to be back in the STCC and to get to be in ‘competitive mode’ in between the rallycross events. Previously I’ve only competed for KMS, run by my family, here in Sweden, so this will be new and fun and I hope I can learn from PWR and the car and I hope I can bring something to the table with my experience. As a competitive person you always want to win races, and this is no exception” says Johan.

This year’s STCC consists of seven races that takes place between April and September. Johan will participate in all of them, except for the sixth race at Solvalla in the beginning of September since it is held at the same weekend as the French World RX event.
