With his tenth place overall at Rally Spain, Ole Christian Veiby took his first WRC point.

The 21-year-old from the city of Kongsvinger in Norway completed a very solid WRC round in Spain. He and his co-driver Stig Rune Skjærmoen were the third fastest RC2 car, the second highest category in the series. Their performance took them to tenth place overall, which means they scored a WRC point.

“It’s really cool to take my first WRC point” said Ole, who finished 12th overall when he won the WRC2 class in Poland earlier this year.

The rally talent impressed greatly, especially on Friday’s gravel stages. The youngster has a lot of experience on the surface and once again showed that he has had a big development during the season.

“I think we drove quite solidly and delivered some good times” said Ole.

He finished in second place among the RC2 cars on Friday evening.

“This is the first time I complete Friday’s itinerary in Spain. There are some really challenging gravel stages where it gets pretty rough on the second pass. With that in mind, I’m very happy about completing the day and also be in second place” said Ole.

With that result on the first day, he had a good position for the following two days on tarmac.

“I don’t have the same experience on tarmac, but I like having it under the tyres. I think we had a good progression over the final two days and I’m pleased with fulfilling my goal to finish on the podium in my class. I’m very happy about taking big steps forward on tarmac and how Saturday and Sunday went makes me more confident” said Ole, who will be competing for Skoda Motorsport in the upcoming WRC round in Wales the last weekend in October.

“It will definitely be a fun challenge. Wales is a rally I know well and since it’s a gravel event, I believe we can accomplish something great there too” said Ole, who was 40 seconds behind the fastest RC2 car, driven by Finnish Teemu Suninen. Ole was just ten seconds behind Czech Jan Kopecký, who finished second.
