Our Finnish-crew Esapekka Lappi and Janne Ferm drove in to their first podium on tarmac with a WRC car, when they finished 3rd at Rallye Deutschland.

Lappi showed strong and consistent pace on the German tarmac, and started the final day holding fifth position. After a clean run on the first stage on Sunday morning, he climbed up to 3rd, kept that position to the finish, and claimed his first podium in the WRC on tarmac. He was third fastest on the powerstage, and with the extra points he remains 4th in the drivers standings.

Lappi says:
“It has been a difficult weekend but it was also a clean one with no issues and that has brought us this podium. There was a lot of drama for the others yesterday and this morning as well. That is rallying and we have been in that position before. I think we made some good progress during the weekend. I think I still need some more mileage to understand what the limits are when these roads are dirty. There is not much room for mistakes and I really didn’t want to make one this time.”
