The two-time world Rallycross champion guided his Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 to third in the WRC2 class at his home-event in Sweden today. – Feels great to be on the podium at my home-event and together with my team-mate, Johan said after the celebrations.

Johan and his co-driver Stig Rune Skjærmoen showed some strong pace and performance over the weekend. Setting top 3 times on 16 of the 19 stages and fastest R5 through 2 stages. They lost time on Saturday afternoon when they went wide in a corner and got stuck in a snow bank for a short time. Luckily they managed to pull out and continued the rally. – Stig Rune and I actually said to each other during the recce that someone will get stuck here, and we did! Other than that we had a trouble-free run over the weekend. We have really enjoyed competing with the Polo, and I do hope we can manage another rally this season.

This was only Johan’s third outing at Rally Sweden. To be best prepared for the snow and ice, he has contested a couple of local rallies and won them all. Including one round in the Swedish Rally Championship.
