Andreas Mikkelsen and his codriver Anders Jæger delivered a solid performance at Rally Italia Sardegna, but a boulder ruined their chance for important drivers points in the championship. – All eyes now ahead on Poland, where I will be fighting for victory, says Andreas.

The 26 year old were in a big fight for third when a massive rock ruined his chances for the podium. The boulder ruined most of the suspension and the Norwegian were forced to retire from day 2. He was back on track again on Sunday, but without any chance to fight for points. There was an option to go for the Power Stage points, but with Rally Poland and road-position in mind, he decided to play the tactical game and not go for the points.

– According to the rules, the start position follows the championship standings for the two first days. I knew that Dani Sordo would go ahead of me in the overall standings if I didn’t take any points, and for me it was an obvious choice. Now I will be car number 3 on the road in Poland, instead of second, Andreas explains. He was second in the championship going in to Sardinia, and being second on the road made the weekends challenge extra difficult.

– I’m very happy with our performance this weekend. We have been fast, but very unfortunate with the rock that stopped our drive. But still, both Anders and me are looking ahead to Poland with a lot of confidence and we will fight for victory there. I was second there two years now, and I know our chances to win are big.

Thierry Neuville won the event, while Andreas and Anders ended P13 in the end.
