On the sealed surface on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, Lappi were consistently fast on the stages and never out of top 3 stage times on the opening day. Fastest on 4 of the 12 stages, including the important power stage.

Based on the great speed he had shown during the event, Lappi was also in podium contention coming into the final day, but a mistake on SS11 led to him needing to stop and change a flat tyre. He went on to win the rally-ending Power Stage by 2.2 seconds and gained sixth place in the overall standings.

– It has obviously been a really positive rally. It’s really nice to be fast on the tarmac stages. We worked really hard to try and find a better setup, and the car felt really good and easy to drive. For me, the times are coming really easily. I didn’t need to push too hard, it just came naturally.

– I think we have learned a lot here both as drivers and as a team. We have been able to find a good setup for the car. Unfortunately, today I made a small mistake, which I take full responsibility for. I guess the rear tyres were still a bit cold and I lost the rear a bit and hit a kerb on the outside. We broke part of the rim and the tyre started to come off so we had to stop and change it. After that it was good to win the Power Stage: there was actually more grip than I was expecting, so I just pushed harder and harder.
