Strong and competitive performance for Lappi in Australia
Our Finnish duo had a clear target for Rally Australia, to secure the manufacturers’ championship for their team Toyota Gazoo Racing. Lappi and Ferm did it well with overall 4th and 3 stage wins.

– I think we did a good job. We really wanted to finish on a high in Australia, and to help the team to win the manufacturers’ championship. Everything went really well and smoothly, only one water-splash ruined a bit our perfect rally. Without it we had been able to fight for victory. After that the gaps were quite big in front and behind us so we were a little bit in no-man’s land and it’s hard to keep the concentration up when you don’t need to push so much, but we made it, Esapekka says.
Lappi finished the first full WRC season respectly fifth in the driver’s standings. Rally Australia was Ep’s and Janne’s last rally with Toyota Gazoo Racing. The guys now move on to Citroën and will compete in a C3 WRC next year.
– Thanks for the support TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, over these years. You gave me the chance to be a real WRC driver. I will always remember it. I decided to take up new challenge in my career for next seasons and it is nice to end this part of my career in this way and helping the team to win the manufacturers’ title, Esapekka concludes.
