Tough Citroën debut for Veiby

The Norwegian, with Stig Rune Skjærmoen in the co-driver’s seat, had only tested his new car in completely different conditions than what he faced at Wales Rally GB. That put him up to a tough task this weekend.

“I really had a great feeling ahead of this rally, because I felt that the car had been very good during the two tests I had before coming here. But it wasn’t easy in way different conditions” he confessed.

Now that the event is completed, it’s clear that he was in the game on the drier stages, while he struggled time wise where it was muddy and slippery.

“I struggled especially with getting the right feel with the brakes” said the 22-year-old, who had to retire with a broken suspension on Saturday. That placed him in 11th overall in the WRC2 class. He had his car fixed in service on Saturday evening and could restart on Sunday to cash in on valuable kilometers.

The next WRC round takes place in Spain and Ole is optimistic when it comes to his chances to perform better.

“I will test the car on tarmac and I’m excited to see what the car can do on another surface. Citroën has previously been strong on tarmac and I think that can be applied on this car as well. However, I’m sure that the conditions in Spain will suit me far better than those in Wales” said Ole.
